Hands-On Woodworking Classes for Women

Learn the craft of woodworking in a welcoming, hands-on environment designed for beginners and curious makers of all ages. Our woodworking classes teach essential skills like safely using power tools, measuring and cutting wood, and creating beautiful handmade projects from start to finish.

We offer woodworking classes for women, and small group team-building experiences for up to six people. Each class focuses on building confidence in the workshop while completing real projects you can take home.

Whether you’re looking to learn a new skill, or plan a unique team-building activity, our small class sizes ensure personalized guidance and plenty of time working with tools and materials.

Woodworking Classes in Berkeley (and have fun learning!)

Start with this basic class and build up to the classes below.

Learn the fundamentals of woodworking while creating a beautiful hardwood cutting board. In this beginner-friendly class, you'll build confidence using essential woodworking tools as you cut, shape, sand, and finish a one-of-a-kind board to take home and enjoy for years to come.

We had such a fabulous time making these beautiful cutting boards. I still look at it and can’t believe that I made that with my own two hands!!! Sara’s fresh air studio was perfect for this class. We got to use all kinds of fun tools, learned a lot about safety and got some good tips. Safety equipment, aprons, tea, water and coffee were provided. We even got to “pet that dog”. We’re looking forward to continuing our woodworking education with Sara Strong studio.

This was such an awesome class!! We'd never done woodworking before & the power tools looked so scary at first, but by the end we felt so confident and we want to pick it up as hobby now!

〰️What a fun experience! Not only did we get to be creative, but we learned how to use a lot of hand tools of all different sorts. Sara is so affable and outgoing and such a good teacher and encourager of new woodworkers. She’s really terrific.

Strong Wood Studio offers beginner woodworking classes in Berkeley for students throughout Oakland, Emeryville, Richmond, and the East Bay.

The classes listed here are designed especially for women. This is a passion project of mine—to create a supportive, encouraging space where women can build confidence and learn to use power tools without intimidation.
